since you're a girl. you definately have to try sex on the beach (the cocktail) it's vodka so it's not heavy stuff, it's made with peach schnapps.
bloody marry is another vodka cocktail you can definately drink. don't go with margarita as it is tequila or mint julep and or rob roy (whisky) or pi?a colada (rum) since they're heavy but I mean it's up to you if you want to try them afterwards.
I personaly drink gin and or vodka so I would probably say you can grab a chocolate martini as well.

A Long Island Iced Tea! It taste great but it will kick your *** if you drink too many. It had 5 alcohols in it.
a "bj!" it's a shot! its made of kahlua, baileys, and whipped cream on top. the catch is that you cant use your hands... so you have to pick it up with your mouth and drink it without touching it! and it tastes so good!
also tell people its ur birthday and most bartenders will make you something good on the house! happy birthday!
Get a Jack Daniels and cola. Its not a drink for amatures but as you grow older you will realize that that is the best drink in the world. It is what grownups drink. It might take a little getting used to..but when your older and are havein dinner Business associates you will look stupid if you order any of the crappy frutity drinks. try out different things, I suggest you make it a long night. Try out strange things or classic things. You have a lot of time to make a preference, ask the bartender what a good cocktail is, maybe a good shot ; ). Classically i say you try a martini, and out of the ordinary I'd tell you to try some body shots, have some fun with it, it's what drinking should be about

I'm an old fuddy duddy, 43 to be exact. So my tastes may be antiquated. If you want a cocktail, ask the bartender for a "Gin Martini, shaken, straight up, medium." This means it will be shaken instead of stirred, no ice and have almost as much vermouth as gin. It's a very "old school" drink which may impress the bartender. Either way, I think you'll enjoy it, but that may be my bias talking.
