What is a good Wine for someone who doesn't drink?!

Question:

What is a good Wine for someone who doesn't drink?

I keep reading how it is healthy to have a glass a day. I would like sweet over dry. What would be a good one to try? Thanks!

Answers:
If you are new to wine, then you should start your palette with sweet white, or blush wines. BUT, since you want the health benefits, reds provide way more falvenoids and other 'good' chemicals than whites.

Pinot Noirs, Syrahs (called Shiraz in Austrailia), French Cote-du-Rhone, and Chianti are on the "lighter side" of reds. Those are probably the best red to start your palette on, then you can graduate to Merlot, then Cabernet Sauvignon blends, then full Cabernet Sauvignon, finally Bordeaux and some of the stronger Italian reds.

yeah the thign is its not really that healthy. but red is better than white

Red Wines are the heart-healthy wines. If you're not into drinking opt for 100% pure grape juice. It will give you the same heart-healthy benefits. Otherwise, try to start with a Merlot.

Try a nice Red Zinfandel wine.

American Reisling - several brands at $6-7/bottle. Slightly sweet, serve cold.

i like anything by Bully Hill Vineyards

Yes it is now said it is good for you but so are a lot of other things. 100% grape juice is just as good for you, --wine=grapes. But if you are looking to enjoy wines, & want somewhere to start, sweet is the best way to go.

sweet red: Lambrusco (cheap too)
sweet whites: Reisling or a WHITE Zinfandel
**definately not red zin as someone stated, not sweet at all.

later after experiencing those you can move to a Merlot, which is a milder red, & Cabernet would be the next bolder. I am personally a Cab person! But i started like I just said. Enjoy, experiment, wine is a nice leisurely activity.

I really like Dubonnet Rouge .... it is an aperitif wine which means a before dinner drink, and is rather sweet and comforting, especially on a cold, misty day!

I generally do not like wine even though I should .. some of the German white wines are really nice ... the inexpensive ones with the pretty labels (forgive me!) like Liebfraumilch ... they are not at all dry ..

Frankly, no matter what they are saying right now, I would not venture into having a glass a day. You really need to build a tolerance for these things and a small glass is plenty, but not every day unless you happen to have a tolerance for alcohol. But, don't push it.

In addition, I hope you do not think that it might not affect your driving. It seems to me that all the interlinks are not interlinked, and you must still be careful of the whole thing, no matter what interest group is grabbing your interest. One person says don't drink at all, another says only in moderation, another says only socially, then there are those that say Vin Santo is fine with biscotti, and then some come right out and tell you what to drink with what.... and some are busy pouring sweet liqueurs all over your ice cream and others are happy to offer you a Kahlua-perfumed chocolate cake (I'll take some!! - the alcohol gets burned off during baking!) and then still others are recommending that you do as the French and the Italians without offering you a look at the French and Italian skintone so you might judge for yourself if they are actually on their way to being winos (and they cite the fact that Italians (peasant class?) often offer their children wine when they are just children)....you know, you haff to watch our for yourself in this world!!!

Personally, I hold to the belief that it is not good to drink ... but if it so happens that I find myself drinking a little something to take off all the tension, then I am not going to scold myself. And, that goes for beer, too!

Try a Riesling. I recommend the Schmitt Sohne brands (blue bottle). The bottle that's labeled Auslese is supposedly the sweetest.

Boones Farms is very tasty. you will enjoy.

None if you don't drink, right?

I'm thinking high-pitched and nasily sounding ...

...and I think it would go something like, "I wannnnnt some Perrierrrrrrrrrrr!"

I personally like Sutter Home White Zinfandel or Beringer White Zinfandel.
