How many drinks will get me legally drunk?!

Question: I haven't had more than two beers (except for the World Series & the 4th of July when I had three) in the past year or more, & tonite I have the opportunity to go partying (see my other question under Singles & Dating for the particulars), but I want to make sure I don't get drunk -- because I have to drive to & from the bar.

I'm 6'3" & 225 pounds -- does anyone know how to calculate how many drinks I could have before I would fail a breathalizer test. What is the rate (1 drink per hour or 1.5, or 2 per hour)?Don't worry I promise I won't drive if I'm drunk, or feel "woozy," because I value my life & the life of others. Also, what is the legal limit in Virginia? Is it 0.08 or 0.1?

Rats, I actually have criminal defense attorney lawyer friends and forensic scientist friends who could figure this out. I think one of them, some lawyer named Bubba (I'm not making this up) had the information on his website. Let me see if I can find it for you...

Somewhere around here are the materials I got from attending a seminar Bubba organized in New Orleans years ago, the information might be in there, too....

But off the top of my head I'd guess the legal limit is .08 because the feds tied in certain federal funding to states accepting that limit and I think every state did.

EDIT: Found Bubba's website but didn't see the calculator there. I'll keep looking but, in case you're interested, here's Bubba's website:

Found these handy sites for figuring out how much you can safely drink:

Keep in mind that there's 2 kinds of beers, some have 3 or 4% alcohol and some have 6% alcohol when using the intoxication calculators.

Like many than I0.Drunk is not good for your health you know.

You know the answer already. Just stay home and enjoy your drinks there.

There is not certain formula to calculate how drunk will you get with certain drinks..
THe factors other than you weight, are. When did you eat last
How strong were the drinks, how many within the hour. and how often do you drink
The only sure thing is to buy yourself a breath analizer ..they run about 60 bucks

nearly all states ,08 is over the limit, to get there involves varibles like how much have ate and when --your size and what you were drinking, . iwould check with the police or your doc for more info, usully 3 beers in a 1-1/2 hrs. gets u there. withh your size you migh be ok for a littlel longer. its no fun getting stopped and is vey expesive..takea cab and be sure. been there , done that

stay at home and drink or plan on taking a cab. one of the best things to do if you're going to go out is store a cab company's number in your cell phone. you never know if you're going to make an "in the moment" decision to drink. also you never know if your designated driver may feel the impulse to drink in the moment, too. to answer your question more directly, though, you can't calculate what your BAC will be because there are so many unmeasurable factors like your metabolism, your genetic tolerance, etc. virginia's BAC limit is 0.08. just be careful and have fun!

Dear Andy,
It's going to depend on the state you are living in... But I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that given your height/wait... any more than 2 beers in the last 3 hours of the party and you are pushing your luck.
I know that a lot of men will think this is a dumb question but... Is drinking REALLY a necessary element to having a good time? I used to giggle my butt off each Friday night working as a bouncer, when the strait mails were to drunk to figure out why none of the lesbians in a gay bar wanted to go home with them.
Hugs,
PennyAnn
