What's a good quality tequila and recipe for margaritas?!

Question:

What's a good quality tequila and recipe for margaritas?

My boyfriend came back from Mexico and loves them

Answers:
I've been drinking tequila for 15 years and my favorite is Casa Noble, nothing better in my opinion.

"Casa Noble ultra premium tequilas begin as carefully selected individual 10 year old plants of Blue Agave. Each one must meet the strict requirements for water and sugar content. We slow-cook them for 38 hours in stone ovens.

Then, using only the core and hearts of the agaves, we extract their robust juice. The fermentation process is 100% natural, followed by a triple distillation. The result is a tequila so pure and full of agave flavor that it has elevated the concept of tequila to new levels around the world.

Casa Noble Tequila Produced and Bottled in Mexico. 40% Alc/Vol (80 Proof). 100% Blue Agave."

Best Margaritas you have to make them with fresh lime juice...
2 oz. Tequila
1 1/2 oz. Grand Marnier
1 oz. Fresh lime juice
Shaken over ice

Patron is an excellent brand.

The Cointreau-tequila-lime juice Margarita has been named Cointreau's official drink of Cinco de Mayo. According to Cointreau, this is the original recipe as created by Margarita Sames, a Texas socialite, in 1948.

Ingredients
1 part Cointreau liqueur
2 parts tequila
Fresh lime juice
Ice

Method
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the Cointreau, tequila and fresh lime juice.

Strain into a Margarita glass, with or without salt, and serve.

To rim a Margarita glass with salt:

Pour lime juice OR Cointreau OR water into a wide shallow bowl. Pour coarse salt onto a plate and level. Dip the rim of a Margarita glass into the lime juice [or Cointreau or water, if using]; shake off excess. Set the rim of the glass in the salt and press, rotating the rim around in the salt depending on how much salt you want on the rim.

A good quality tequila is Patron. But if you spend that much on tequila, then you don't want to mix it. I've found that "El Jimador" is a great brand and the reposado makes a great margarita. The margarita mix is important too. Some mixes taste better with some tequilas. I like EL Jimador tequila and Sauza mix. If they don't sell El Jimador where you live then I would suggest Sauza Hornitos with sauza mix. Usually it's 2 or 3 parts mix to 1 part tequila. If you're blending make sure you have a good blender, there's nothing worse than ice pellets in blended drinks.

You cant go wrong with Don Julio. (Patron will work too)

A good Recipe is 2 shots of Tequilla. a hand ful of Ice Fresh Limes and some tripple Sec. He will be pretty happy how it turns out

I've found that with margaritas you're better off to get a good mix and cheap tequila and triple sec. The citrus really overwhelms the alcohols so the top shelf stuff is really a waste in the long run. The original recipe was equal parts tequila, triple sec and Rose's lime juice. I like to squeeze one lime in a cocktail shaker (use the lime to wet the edge of your glass and dip in margarita salt). Add 1/4 cup triple sec, 3/4 cup tequila and fill it up with a good quality mix. Most people will not be able to tell the difference between expensive and cheap tequila. Save the Cabo Wabo for shots straight up!

In the end, what really matters is finding what you like best!

everyone is correct, use the cheap stuff for mixing a quality tequila is meant to be savored straight...I like Milagro anjeo
Cielo anjeo and cabo wabo reposado.

the bst for margaritas specificaly is corazon tequila.

and a good tequilla for shots is patron

Here's the deal-if you're making margaritas, DON'T worry about the tequila. It is almost completely masked by the lime flavor. That being said...

2 oz tequila reposado
1 oz cointreau (or if you like, grand marnier)
1.5 oz sweet and sour (home made is best)
splash of orange juice
splash of soda
serve on the rocks with salt and a squeeze of lime-and a hint from a purist-NEVER blend a margarita.

I disagree with using a cheap tequila for margaritias. I have an excellent sense of taste and I CAN tell the difference. I like Patron Silver.

cabo wabo is good tequila
cointreau
sweet and sour mix
lime juice
Lime Garnish

mess around with the amounts until you find out how you personally like them best, i like 3 parts cabo to 1 part cointreau
