A nice semi sweet red wine?
I'm going to make a red wine, and i'd like any recomendations. No dry or very dry please. something sweeter.

So far the red's mentioned are very dry (the serious mentions, i should say.)
You are brave to try and make a wine, myself I have made beer but not tackled wine.
For sweeter (the term off-dry is preffered) go with a beajolais, or lambrusco grapes. If you use zinfandel grapes you can also make a sweeter style by stoping the fermentation with a higher brix. Also any red that you let be affected by botrytis will have a sweet raisiny quality, or simply let it sit on the vine until it starts to raisin...like an amarone. You can also experiment with freezing the grapes before you press them.

Most Merlots are 'softer' and taste a little sweeter than dry wines. A decent low cost Merlot is Barefoot Merlot, probably $6-7 a bottle. Stay clear of dessert wines that can be so sweet that if there's any left over, you can use it on pancakes!

i like pinot grigio...i don't know how much money you are willing to spend, so i cant recommend a brand. anyway, it is a light, sweet, red.
I enjoy White Merlot
A lighter, sweeter red wine (made with grapes) would be either a Pinot Noir or even a Cabernet Sauvugnon. The Cabernet may be slightly dry, but not nearly as dry as a Shiraz or Zinfandel. Those would be your best bets.
