There's so many theories and I think it has several significances. But I believe it's the number of words in the little blurb on the bottle near the "33"...
It is a "33" and it means nothing. When an executive wrote out the original slogan he counted the letters and wrote "33" at the end of the sentence. The designer of the bottle thought this was part of the slogan and added it to the bottle. It created such a buzz that they've kept it ever since.
It's the number of words in the story of Rolling Rock on the back of the bottle. When the submissions were judged they were all given a name, that submission had 34 words so "34" was written on the back to identify it. When the bottles were printed the "34" on the back was printed on the bottle by mistake and it has always been there.
