Does Champagne go bad or expire so you can't drink them anymore?!

Question: we had some nice bottles of champagne but they smelled foul and undrinkable. I didn't know there was expiration on them or did i just keep them in bad shape?

Champagne should be kept in a cool dark place (45 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit). Fluctuations of temperature must be avoided.

Stored properly, champagne will be fine for 3-4 years, but may begin to deteriorate if kept longer. Some champagnes retain their quality even after being stored 10 years or more, but it is not recommended.

Champagne doesn't expire but when drinking it it needs to be chilled... otherwise it would taste foul and have a pungent oder

They were probably not stored properly. As long as they are left unopened, they will be fine for years.

they wont make you sick but sometimes the tast will change

Just like wine, once open and exposed to the air, Champagne will only keep for a few days. Unopened, they will keep for years. Store them in an area out of the sun and extreme temperature changes.
