Is cheap alcohol particularly bad for your body?!

Question: If so, where should you draw the line between "affordable" and "cheap"?

How cheap can you go on a bottle of wine or liquor, each, without making yourself sick over time?

There is no conclusive proof that it is bad for you. It does tend to have more impurities especially in vodkas which can add to the effects of a hangover. Better alcohols will be aged longer at the distiller and be better blended to create a consistent flavor.

Jennywren:

Please, site your proof. I've been collecting alcohol for many years and can tell you from experience that there is a difference between cheap vodka and expensive vodka. And just for the record cheap vodka is anything under about $30. Expensive is $30 a shot.

i don't necessarily think it is a question of what will make you sick "over time" but what will make you feel bad soon after you drink it (as in later that night or the next morning). The cheaper vodkas for example are not filtered as many times as the pricier vodkas, so they are harsher tasting and sometimes harder on your body, can give you headaches and make you nauseous, etc....
With wines there are a lot of variables. Used to be if it had a cork, it was a higher quality but there are actually a couple of decent ones now that are using a twist cap surprisingly enough. Alice White is a good inexpensive wine, as is Little Penguin and Delicato isn't bad either. All are available around here (near Chicago) for around $5 or $6 per bottle. Cheap wine will give you a screaming headache and upset stomach if you overdo it. Cheapy here is Boone's farm and any other in the same area of the shelves ;)

ummm im still alive and as teen i lived on boones farm strawberry hill..lol

I don't know that one is better for you than the other. In the end, if you drink too much it can all be bad for you.

I think you're fine drinking cheap alcohol...the only thing that might make you sick is the taste. =)

No, it's really all the same. Different vodkas have been taste tested and people who think they should always buy the expensive brands end up picking the cheap ones in the test. I try things out in the mid to low price range until I find what I like best.

While it is possible to buy a fifth of vodka for a mere 3 dollars, it usually ends tasting like rubbing alcohol. However, it also usually is stronger then your average alcohol and gets you drunk faster, cheaper. If you want taste go with a $15 and up bottle, but if the mission is to get wasted and taste isnt a factor then get the cheapest you can get.

Taste is more a guide for wine. One or two glasses a day is considered limit per person. There is a good one that cost just $2. If you are getting sick it may mean you need to stop drinking .
