What is the difference betweeen bar and pub?!

Question:

What is the difference betweeen bar and pub?

Answers:
Bars are American, Pubs are English

Tom is correct, but the original pub always served food, most bars didn't

Pub has food. Bar has old losers wasting there lives doing nothing.

Where you are drinking at

Pub is short for public house. Essentially, it's a bar that is open to the public. Bars, strictly speaking, may be private establishments. A tavern is a pub that serves food. An inn is a pub or tavern that also has lodgings.

None of this really means anything anymore, as many of the terms are used interchangeably. Today, pubs and taverns are usually bars that serve food, while inns may offer lodging only or food and drink only.
