What are those stupid things they sometimes put in the middle of beer pitchers, that take up a bunch of space?!

Question: Natalie's right. When we owned our restaurant, the Budweiser rep came and gave us these new pitchers they were trying out that had a core in them to keep the beer cold while on the table. Nobody liked them and they just took up a lot of room in the beer cooler. I'm surprised any establishment actually uses them now. We all agreed they were pretty worthless.

uh never saw anything in my pitchers but beer or empty space after i drink them lol

maybe it's for ice to keep things cold?

It is some sort of ice packet to keep it cool. In my mind it just reduces the amount of beer.

It's for exactly that, to take up space. It saves them massive amounts of beer every year.

I think you already answeredd the question yourself. They're there to take up space and therefore the establishment gives you less beer for the same price.
