Answers:
Only if it is a white or blush wine. You need to recork it or seal it, then store in the fridge. If it is a red, you can recork/seal it and keep it on the counter. Just so you are aware, white wines flavor changes drastically after it has been opened, so don't be surprised if your Chardonnay tastes a little off after a few days, even if its sealed and chilled. because, like milk products, wine is a "live" food. the fermentation process creates yeasts that make the wine. when the wine is bottled & corked, no further oxygen comes into contact with the product, so the aging or oxidation process stops. once you remove the cork, new oxygen can come in contact with the yeasts, causing them to age or oxidize, and therefore changing the consistency of the wine, and possibly spoiling it for consumption.

After opening a bottle of wine it should be consumed with an hour or two. Once it is exposed to air it starts to deteriorate and will soon be undrinkable.

You can leave it out, but not for too long. If you open it you should plan to drink it all that day/night. Wine doesn't last when opened and refrigerated for a long period of time or over night.

If it's a white wine-yes. It needs to keep cool. Red wine's are fine if they're recorked.

wine needs to be drank within a few days if its not refridgerated. it will go sour after awhile.

If the wine is a Riesling/Chardonnay/Chenin or such white then it should be recorked and placed in the refrigerator. Drink within 2 days.

If the wine is a Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot or such red then it will be fine on the counter IF IT IS MORE THAN 1/2 FULL for 1 day, but if the bottle is LESS than 1/2 full, cork it and put it in the refrigerator.

Remember that the worst thing for wine is OXYGEN so always recork the bottle after pouring even if you are going to drink more during the evening.

Enjoy wine, red is especially good for your health when you drink no more than 1 glass (5 oz)per day for women and 2 glasses per day for men.

Red wine is fine left out as long as it's corked. I read above that he recommends putting in the fridge if it's less than half a bottle - I've never heard of that, but it sound like he knows what he's talking about; however, I leave a glass or two in the bottle unrefriderated and drink it the next day or so all the time and I'm OK :-)

Simply re-corking the bottle and putting it back in the fridge is the most practical way for most. In addition, removing air with a vacuum pump is an advantage. These are available in most kitchen or hardware shops. However, even with re-corking and refrigeration, opened wines will still lose their freshness in time. White wines should be finished by the second day after opening and red wines by the third day after opening.
