Beer drinkers - Sierra Nevada question...?!
Beer drinkers - Sierra Nevada question...?
Has Sierra Nevada always had a IPA? I've never seen it before until recentley, and it has "2007" on the bottle, which leads me to believe it's new (I saw on their website that it's a sping seasonal). I'm very familiar with their beer & I love IPA's -so I'm just shocked that I wouldn't know if Sierra Nevada has one or not...
Answers:
Sierra Nevada IPA came out in the spring of 2006.
At first, this seasonal IPA by Sierra Nevada doesn't taste significantly different than the brewery's flagship Pale Ale. As the beer warms, you start to get more bitterness. Though this bitterness becomes fairly pronounced, this is probably more subtle variety of hop than is used in typical West Coast IPAs. Not knowing what Sierra had in mind, initial reaction was that this was a rather tame example of the IPA style

I had one last summer. So they aren't brand new.
From my understanding (from my favorite bar tender) this is a seasonal beer for the summer. If it is extremely popular, who knows, it might stick around for good. But my guess is that it will go away as soon as they get ready to release another seasonal. (Much like Breckenridge does with their Pandora's Bock and Abita does with their Christmas Ale).
It will mostly likely return if it does leave though.
Hope that helps. :o)
Yes they have, it's seasonal. They do not selll it year round.
They have, but it's like their Barleywine Ale., as it is seasonal and you may have missed it
