Can someone help me with the gist on how wine is made?!

Question: What is needed in a winery? What are basic steps in the wine-making process. This is for a project for school.

The very basics for equipment would be 2 fermenting vessels, sanitizer, siphon hose, hydrometer, and bottles.

As far as process goes, the basics are...

Prepare the must. Whether this is fresh pressed grapes (or other fruit), or store bought juice, you need to fill your primary fermentation vessel with the must. Then pitch the yeast (wine yeast, not bread yeast). After fermentation has slowed (2-4 weeks), rack into secondary fermentation and let sit until clear (another month or two). Then you can either bottle, or rack again into bulk aging. Depending on the recipe, this process may vary slightly, and bulk aging could be anywhere from 3 months to a couple years.

yeast, sugar, fruit juice,

by removing the sugar from grapes and then letting it sit for a while

I have two wine grape vines. Last year I made it for the first time. Just expand this and you have a winery!

Vines, Fertilizer, farm chemicals. a refractometer to tell the sugar content of grapes.
Harvest. Machine to take grapes off the stems.
A vessel to ferment wine, chemicals to sterilize equipment.
Sugar and acid to regulate the juice. Wine yeast.
Tubes to transport the wine from one vessel to another.
Air locks to let gas out of fermenting wine but no air in.
a hygrometer to tell sugar and alcohol levels.
Oak chips or barrells to age the wine.
Bottles, corks and a corker to bottle the wine

a marketing and sales and distribution dept.
Warehouse to store the wine.
A lot of $$$$$ to do this.. LOL

Making wine is not a complex project and is done by many home wine makers using different grapes, fruits and yes flowers

The juice is added to sugar and then yeast is mixed into the juice.

After about 3 to 10 days you have the basic wine.

Then it needs to sit and age for a couple months to clear itself and then put into containers or bottles.

A large enough container to hold the juice while the yeast is turning the sugars into alcohol.

A large enough container to store the wine in while its ageing

Enough bottles when the wine is done ageing

A Fifth is equal to 25.6 Fluid US Ounces or 750 ml
