WINE TASTING For VALENTINES DAY?!

Question: What do u think about this idea?

Unfortunately i cannot book my vine tasting idea ON valentines day, but i CAN book it for the 15th.
I am planning to surprise my boyfriend that morning. The plan is to have a nice dinner (no alcohol involved) ON Valentines day and sleep over his place that night. Then on the 15th i wake him up and tell him to get ready and he wont know where we are going until we get to theactually winerie.
Do you think this is a good idea? Any tips or stories/suggestions ont this? Yes he likes wine, but both have never been to wine tasting b4 hehe
:)

That sounds like a lot of fun. Wish I could go too. lol

Some wineries will not only give you a list of their wines, but will also tell you the sweetness/dryness of the wine. There should be a number, in parentheses, to tell you how sweet a wine is. The lower that number, the less sugar there is in it.

Go for the dry wines first, and work your way to the sweet. Somewhere along the way, you'll hit "The One" for you and your sweetie, and then you can decide which ones to buy.

If you have any questions about the wines, such as where did the grapes come from, what variety of grape was used, what other fruits do you blend into your wines..... just ask. The vintners love to tell you all bout their wines.

If you live in an area where the wineries get together and throw a party.... attend. You'll pay a small fee to get in, and in some cases, get glasses and cork pullers. After the entrance fee, the wine tasting is free, and sometimes the wineries give a slight discount on the bottles you can buy. Like 3 bottles for $X.xx.

Just don't drink so much you can't drive back home. Drink a lot of water and eat some cheese and crackers. The wineries I've been to, don't get offended if you walk in with a cheese and meat plate... as long as it's a small one, and they often have crackers or tortilla chips for you to munch on.

Have fun, and have a great Happy Heart's Day.

Yeah that's a good idea, but why no alcohol on v-day too!

You will have a very lucky boyfriend and the plan sounds wonderfull

Good plan, take lots of water and snacks with you. Staying hydrated will help you and watch the driving, you can get lit pretty quickly. Avg taste is about 1oz and with 8 or so tastings per winery, it won't take long to get buzzed. Recommend going slow and plan a long lunch to help sober up. If you can spend the night near the wineries so you don't have to drive home.
