i like absinthe but only wen im already gone lol. or im drinknig for a reason . getz? ^ ^ . you can find absinthe at that 1 outta 30 liquor store but other than that its banned. its like madd strong sh**t soo be careful. have fun tho = ]
Its good if you like a hard kick in the stomach after that first drink. Its very strong I think and yea ive had it a couple of times. But really dont want it again as its just to strong for me. Some specialty liqour stores might be able to get it.But your run of the mill corner liqour store might not. Just ask around in your area or try Ebay they do have some odd stuff on there who knows they might have one up for grabs.
...people who fancy themselves to be like the 19th poets of France who made it famous.
The "green fairy" genre is the classic type, Pernod is the original "pre-ban" variety within this genre - It's rare expensive and sometimes faked.

Genuine absinthe contains wormword, which is believed to be neurotoxic and capable of causing paralysis.

"Is drinking absinthe containing thujone harmful?
Modern commercially produced absinthe has been shown to contain a safe level of thujone.
In order to comply with European Union (EU) limits, the thujone levels in commercially distilled absinthe must be10mg/l or less. The thujone levels in commercially distilled absinthe in Germany must be 30mg/l or less.
As an example: before you could consume a toxic amount of thujone from drinking commercial absinthe, you would have been suffering from alcohol poisoning.
Modern analysis supports the theory that poor manufacturing processes, and adulterants such as antimony trichloride and cupric acetate, present in cheaper varieties of absinthe produced at the turn of century, of being a higher suspect for acute effects such as restlessness, vomiting, vertigo, muscular disorders, and convulsions.

I've spent more money than I care to admit importing absinthe before the ban was lifted and I've figured out two things.
1. I have the flavor of anise.
2. The hallucination thing is a load of horse sh#t.
3. I wasted money....
Okay, that is actually three but I don't feel like going up and editing. As for brands go in the US I recommend Lucid it was designed by the worlds leading expert on absinthe... If i can find it I'll post a link to an interview with him.
EDIT:
4. I effing hate people who cut and paste articles from wiki and other websites. If we wanted to know what a google search on absinthe would reveal... We'd have done it ourselves.
I ordered some Lucid a few days ago, pretty good I guess. It gives you a nice buzz.
