Lounge bar's in Dublin?

Answers:
My parent's day,the 40's and 50's, bars were usually rough and ready and full of men. there were few concessions made for women. It was deemed to be unsuitable for a woman to be seen drinking in a pub, so a lot of bars had "snugs" where the women could sit and sip, away from the unwanted attentions of the male drinkers.
I'm not sure when lounge bars came in first. I started dating in 1970, and there were plenty of lounge bars around then. I would say they were a development of the "snug" in a gradual way, so I couldn't give you a date.

Well this is not the place to check this out if you have money riding on it. Try Guinness.ie or some other such accredited web place. You will always get a variety of answers anyway. I do know that women did not frequent pubs until the 1900's and the lounge bar was developed to cater for them. But as to a date.......I don't want you to lose your money as a result of my answer.

Cant be precise about yr but in 60s there was a cocktail lounge in marlborough st.Dolans or Dorans i think

Lounge bar's what? What are you going to loosen?
