Why do you grownups like beer so much despite it is bitter?!

Question: Interesting question. There is a theory that as a person becomes more mature, their tastes change. When people are young they generally only like sweet things, as they get older they begin to enjoy sour thingsand when they get older again, they begin to like bitter things.
I should point out I first liked the taste of beer at the age of four years old so either I was very mature for my age or psychobabble explanations for people's taste in food is just a load of rubbish :-)

Some of us like the bitter taste. I know I do.

I wonder why kids like drinking super sweet soft drinks like cheeryade so much.

How observant a person you are!!! I am an adult and I do not like beer. It is bitter because it is made from rotted grain.

Not all grownups like beer.

i think they like more the buzz than the taste

Nobody likes beer the first time they drink it. I don't know how old you are but you'll understand by the time you hit college.

It's more about the drink itself.. I have brilliant memories of drinking beer.. being a student.. that does happen.. and drinking it again revives that memories.. well, that, and its cheap!

Because it's wonderful!

During the 16 to 17 hundreds in Britain, Clean drinking water was very hard to come by as sanittation methods were rather unsavoury. Because of this one of the only sources of reliable drinking liquid was beer or ale. Due to the fermentation process the alcohol was safer to drink than the rotting stagnant disease ridden water from the well. Everybody drank ale and beer. From children to adults. Breakfast and dinner. Because of this cultural memory has lasted through the ages and has made a lasting impression on the adults of today.

eh.... oh hang on. sorry im talking complete boll0cks here.
the reason we like it is because it gets you pissed.
two years and youll see why.

i don't care for beer i don't like the taste and you need to include why teens like beer as well ?
sorry guys but teen sneak and drink as much as adult do :)

Beer, whisky is an acquired taste. No one ever likes beer when they first start it. You start trying to emulate the "adults" around us who swear by it. And you simply are repulsed by the taste and smell. I advice first timers to do it in experienced company. The temperature of the beer is important for the taste, so is the quality/ brand . Later comes the gulp, how much to take in. If you try to taste it and take a tiny sip, firstly you are going to hate the taste and smell of it -- i used to feel horse piss might taste a little mellower than this, second you are not going to get the tipsy happy feel. So the secret is to take in a big gulp, as if to quench your thirst for beer and let it roll into your throat directly, unlike wine or cocktails. Once you have done a few bottom ups in spirit and with great company, there is nothing like beer. You come home tired, nothing seems to be working right in life, get a chilled glass/pint of beer and see the magic.

I hate the taste of beer. I can only drink it if i'm already drunk.

Dont drink until your older :)

Not all beers are bitter. Those that are also contain other flavors. Your palate develops as you age, so perhaps you'll appreciate it later.

it's an acquired taste like wine or dr. pepper haha

Beer doesn't have to be bitter. Lagers and Pilsners are bitter and sharp to taste, but are also refreshing. Better lagers will have less of a bad aftertaste. Warsteiner is a good lager, as is Carlsberg. Many commercial brands, such as Beck's and Foster's, are often inferior.

Other beers can be smooth and sweeter. Bitters (misleading name) such as Tetley's and John Smith's (both popular in Great Britain), are smooth and less sharp in taste, but still very refreshing when cold. Other popular beers in England are Mild, which is much like Bitter in terms of texture, with a slightly different taste.

In Germany, where I live, flavoured beers are popular. The volume is lower, but it is an alternative for those who don't like beer. You can get lemon, cola and many other flavours. I'm not a big fan of these, but other people like them.

when u grow up,you will understand young grasshopper

Why do you kids like sour candy?

It is a matter of preference.

There's beer and beer. Some beers are malty (bocks). Some are sour (kriek). Some are quite bitter (IPA). Different people like different tastes. When you are older, if you want to try beer, I suggest you start off with a bock, a scotch ale, or a wheat beer. These don't contain as much bittering hops as some of the others do. If you like those, you can branch out and sample other styles.

That taste is great, it's an acquired taste.
