Hey Bartenders!!!!Do you think being a black female bartender is a problem??!

Question: I am looking for bartender job in NY but I am wondering if it will be easy for me to get hired because of my ethnicy (I am Black but look biracial).
Also I am French and my English might be a problem (I speak with a French accent) and I don't have SSN.
I have a certificate from a bartender school and I bartended in a club and a pub in Paris.
Thank you and be honest please!!
(I am 5'7, 115lbs and D cup and I just turned 21)

Um- the fact that you don't have a SSN ( do you have a visa?) would be a much bigger issue than the color of your skin or your accent. Being blond and skinny may be a plus if you want to bartend at Hooters or a strip club- but not for the other 99% of bartending jobs.

I would think the accent would increase your appeal- unless the chip on your shoulder and the focus on your cup size get in the way.

No. Why would you think it was a problem?

if your cup size matters to your boss you are not a bartender... otherwise unless you want to work in a redneck or white supremicist bar you should be fine, as for a french accent.... sounds sexy, good for tips

There really should be no problem with that, unless its an unprofessinal place you want to work at. And french accents are cute!!

But what do you mean by SSN?

For one thing, if you're a girl bartender with a D cup guys wont give a **** as long as you wear low tops lol. As for the girls, if you're nice most girls wont have a problem with you

Come work in South Africa!! Cape Town, you'll make a fortune!!! We love female bartenders from other countries!!

Seriously though...if you have the skill and knowledge, it shouldn't be a problem. I'm not sure how it is in other countries, but in my country, locals like people from diffrent countries, it makes you all the more interesting. As for your cup size. Don't fall into that "sex women" bartender pit.

Get hired for your skill. Not your cup size. I'm not much smaller than you, don't make the mistake I did, by getting hired for your cup size and regretting it later. Get hired for who you are and what you can do.

It's absolutely no problem in the UK, why should it be? In fact all the guys will be intrigued by your French accent so it will be a bonus for you!
