Answers:
Alcohol are spirits. So any drink with a hard liquor mixed into it has "spirit" in it.

I THINK it has to do with the mixed drinks or hard liquors...but that is a good question!

Spirits is alcoholic drink, types of spirits: liqueurs, malt, whiskey...

From web:
A (distilled beverage) is a liquid preparation meant for consumption containing ethyl alcohol (ethanol) purified by distillation from a fermented substance such as fruit, vegetables, or grain.

The word "spirits" generally refers to distilled beverages low in sugars and containing at least 35% alcohol by volume. Baijiu, Gin, Ginger Wine, vodka, rum, whisky (or whiskey), brandy, absinthe, tequila, and traditional German schnapps are types of spirits. Distilled beverages with added flavorings and a relatively high sugar content such as Grand Marnier, Frangelico and American style schnapps are generally referred to as liqueurs. The term liquor may mean spirits; spirits and liqueurs; or all alcoholic beverages, including wine, sake, beer, and mead.

hard liquor like Scotch, Gin, Vodka, etc.

gin, whiskey, white lighting,

They are the souls of all of those who have paved the way for alcohol consumption in history. It is said that when a drinker passes, his soul actually becomes part of the ingrediants used to prepare the very cocktails they enjoyed so much while amongst the living. why do you think it burns so much when you take straight shots? It is the "spirits" trying to grab hold of whatever they can on the way down.

Sorry, I had to. It's the liquor used to make the drinks. They are referred to as spirits in many refined recipes. (ex. vodka, gin, rum, tequila, scotch, etc.)

Beer is "beer", wine is "wine or champagne" and spirits is "liquor (scotch, vodka, gin, tequila, etc...)"
