In my broke college student days I would pick up handles of Wolfschmidt's, Barton's and McCormick's. These are just about the lowest of the low but if it's going to be a communal bottle night (basically everyone drinks everyone else's stuff) I would pick up one of those and then a smaller bottle of something decent, be that Skyy, Absolut, Stoli or Smirnoff.

Tequila options would be Montezuma or Tortilla Gold. Also if you're really scraping the bottom of the barrel look for something called Mezcal. There are some decent ones but most of them are kind of like tequila's retarded step brother.

go to the liquor store and look on the bottom shelf....

Absolut is quite decent and inexpensive.
IMHO SKYY is the worst one and Smirnoff is not very good either.. Stoli and Grey Goose are ok while Belvedere and Kettle One are excellent.

well i bought smirnoff and everclear tonite. and i am also a broke college student.

smirnoff is good and inexpensive.
anything cheaper than that is gonna
make you sick and give you a hangover lol

greygoose is my preference but if i don't want to
spend as much i'll drink smirnoff.

i don't really know about tequila it's not my thing.

Svedka vodka will give you the best bang for your buck. It doesn't quite have the quality of top shelf vodka such as Grey Goose, Ketel One, or Belvedere but it's right up there with Absolut or Skyy and is quite cheap!

Kassers is very cheap, 4 dollars for a pint and they come in bigger bottles. Also Brunetts is a cheap vodka if you want to get drunk cheap.

In the way of tequila, I'd steer away from anything cheaper than Cuervo. I only use it as a mixer tequila, usually in margaritas. It's not bad though, just not great. When it comes to shots or sipping, I'll stick with Patron.

Absolut is a decent vodka when you're broke. When you have the money later on, spring for a bottle of Ketel One.

Sauza blanca tequila is good, and inexpensive. Try Skye for vodka.

Aristocrat Vodka... although shamed... got me through college... we're talking 10 bucks a half gallon... I still can't taste the difference!

Svedka vodka is around $13.50 a fifth here and is really good. I use it for martini's all the time. I don't know if they have this where you live, but Seagram's vodka isn't bad for $11 a fifth, either.
I had a roommate from Russia and he preferred Svedka to Stoli or Absolut, and this dude grew up on vodka.
Tequila...anything less than Cuervo Gold and you are in trouble! Well, maybe cheaper stuff for margaritas but don't shoot it or you will know a new definition of the word hangover!

Two Fingers Gold way better than cuervo and costs a little over $10 a bottle.

Smirnoff is great plus if you want cheap then get red square. Its a really big bottle and only $30. but the liquor store always has it marked down to $25 where i come from. Its good you should try it mixed with V and lift-plus.

A HANDLE of Banker's Club vocka is $12!
