If you can't drink and drive why do you need a driver's license to buy liquor?!

Question: And why do bars have parking lots?

Answers: And why do bars have parking lots?

Can't anyone see the humor in this question??? Come on people!!

Why do liquor stores have drive throughs?

You can have a regular state issued I.D. too =)

You're not supposed to drink and drive because you might spill.

You need ID to proove your old enough, a passport will work too.

it's an id
why ask such moronic questions?
......

because its a form of photographic identiy to make sure your old enough retard

It's just for ID you could hand over your passport too if you wanted, and not everyone that go to bars drink sooo much that they can't drive, or even drink at all for that matter.

u dont need a license
u just need to be 21 (here at least)

they have bar parking lots because bars serve food, not just booze

and they assume, u get a designated driver, who needs a space now doesnt he?

Because on your driver's license is your age and it has a red bar until you are twenty-one. It is the most efficient way to check people's age and make sure they can't fake. Bars have parking lots so that people can drive there. Nobody wants to walk to a bar.

To prove your age. Another ID that denotes age, for instance a military ID, probably would work also at most liquor stores.

You dont need a drivers license you just need a state ID. People are alowed to drive to the bar and they can drive home once they are sober.

You just need proof of age. Drivers liscense is most common, but I imagine otehr forms of ID would work too. As far as the bars question, not everyone drinks, and people are expected to have a designated driver :).

this is the most amazingly clever question that I have ever come across... I am honestly impressed... just so smart...

duh proof of age, for responsible people that dont over drink and get drunk at bar or go there to eat

YOU DONT NEED A DRIVERS LICENSE...YOU NEED IDENTIFICATION TO PROVE HOW OLD YOU ARE.

Because people have designated drivers that have to park their cars somewhere. There are people who go to bars that dont drink. A drivers license is for identification for many purposes--one of which is buying alcohol.

You need a driver's license to buy beer so that they know that you are actually 21 and not lying about your age. And if you are going to a bar then you should have a designated driver so that they can drive you home without the risk of recking.

You don't need a drivers license to buy liquor. A state ID card or a military ID card will work just as well. Bars have parking lots so there is a place to leave your car when you get blitzed.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a drivers license. It can be an i.d. too, to determine that the person is over 21, but since most people over 21 have their license and it doubles as an i.d. then they use their license.
As for the parking lot, there's designated drivers, where are they going to park? and some people will have one or two drinks and stay at the bar till they have sobered up then they drive.

1) verify age of customer

2) you can drink THEN drive, but not drink AND drive, cause you will have difficulty texting your friends, miss part of the movie, spill your popcorn, and blame your passengers.

that's just dumb.

indeed you are absolutely right i was trying to post same question.. thanks for sharing dear

You don't have to have a driver's license in order to purchase alcohol. You do need a photo id which you can obtain from the department of motor vehicles.
People do drive to/from bars so they need a place to park. Not everyone is out to get drunk. Also consider that restaurants serve alcohol. Should they also not have parking lots?

why do we drive on Parkways and park in driveways? If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it still make a sound? What is the sound of one hand clapping? :p

Seriously, though, they need your ID to confirm that you're of legal age. And they have parking lots so you have a place to put your car while you're drinking. And, technically, you can drink and drive, as long as you're not drinking while you're driving and didn't have too much before you started driving. But you can go to a bar, have a couple beers or a Fuzzy Navel (my favorite), or something and still be okay to drive. That's why there's a legal blood alcohol limit. It's still smartest to have a Designated Driver, just in case, though. But the Designated Driver still needs a place to park...

It still makes a good rhetorical question, though ;)

the driver's license is an ID where your age is printed. You must be of legal age to buy liquor. You can use other valid IDs in buying booze.

You are not allowed to drive when under the influence of liquor coz you may hurt yourself and others while driving. Alcohol adversely affects your judgement and reflexes. that makes it dangerous for you to drive when drunk.

Bar customers need to park their cars while inside the bar - eating, drinking or whatever. Would you drive to a bar which doesn't have a parking lot?

It's just a form of I.D.
You don't have to drink and drive, you just need to be able to provide a valid I.D. in order to purchase a beverage with alcohol while you're there.
Who says you have to get trashed to park at a bar anyway?
You sure got a lot of answers, Ada.
