How long does it take to get a bartender license?!

Question: In the state you live do your bartender's require one?

I have one, but it is not mandatory in Illinois. I also have 2 state certifications in alcohol awareness and serving which IS mandatory depending on what towns (i.e. City of Chicago) you want to work in or what companies you work for(corporations).

The benefit of the schools is the knowledge you receive about the products you are working with, sanitation, and the acquiring of your state certifications in the alcohol awareness program without having to pay extra for it and it's renewal and the job placement they offer (make sure if you attend a school, this is offered).

The drawback, if you end up working at a local shot and beer bar, everything you learned, doesn't much matter.

License ?????

40 hours of training, and you will be placed in a job.

Depends on where you are. In Texas you need to be certified by TABC, and you can take an online course that takes 3-4 hours.

You don't need a license to bartend. You can go to a bartending school which usually just takes a couple of weeks. The schools can be a waste of time since most places won't hire someone without behind-the-bar experience. If you do look into schools, choose one with job placement assistance and one that has accessible personnel and offers free refresher courses.
