Have you ever mixed two different types of beer together?!

Question: For a different flavor? If so, what beers, and did it taste good or bad? Thanks.

Irish Red Ale (Murphy's, etc) & Cider (Strongbow, etc.)
=Red Apple

Pumpkin Ale & IPA... brewed a Pumpkin IPA recently that was oustanding...

Guinness over PBR is a Black & Blue

Stout (Guinness, etc.) & Belgian Wit (Hoegaarden, etc.)
=Black Velvet (often goes by other names: Black & White, etc.)

Harp & Guinness is a half&half

Cider and Lager is a Snakebite

Sam Adams Cherry Wheat and Woodchuck
=Cherry Woody

Sam Adams Cherry Wheat & Leinenkugel Summer Shandy
=Cherry Lemonade

Leinie Berry Weiss & Leinie Creamy Dark
=Blackberry

So many combos... so little time...

i have mixed a bud bottle with a bud can. it was good. it tasted like bud.

I have mixed two different kinds of beer together before and will never do it again. Not a good idea. By all means, I don't know why it tasted so bad but it really did.

Although a Black & Tan is separated at first, the Guiness and Bass eventually mix - so you get a mixed beer that way. Also, the "Porter" style came from a mix called "Entire", that used three different types of ale.

I would say to pick beers that will complement reasonably - a nut brown and a pale or amber ale might work. Some mixes will be terrible, some will be ok, some will be great - you just have to experiment & see what you like.

And stay away from the light American crap like Bud/Coors/Miller - it won't add anything to your mix, and will probably just weaken it.

Founders Dirty Bastard & Hoegaarden.

I call it a "Dirty Hoe"

blue moon + guiness = a half moon, good stuff

Besides black and tan.....no. Is it good?

It's bad to mix beers if you respect beer. They are something that should be enjoyed by themselves.

or try Saranac Black & Tan. It's already mixed.

Sort of. I like both American-style bock and European-style bock but decided that something in between (Icelandic-style???) would be better, so I mixed the two recipes and brewed something I like more. It's not perfect yet, but close.

I am planning on mixing braggot and sweet mead in various concentrations to get an idea about how to clone a particular beer I like but can't get. Wish me luck.
