1.5 oz vodka
1.5 oz. cranberry juice
lime wedges
ice
shaker

In your shaker add 2 lime wedges and the vodka, muddle the two together (muddle just means to extract the juice and the pulp from the lime and have it infuse the vodka), then add the ice and a couple splashes of cranberry juice. Using a pounder, strainer or shaker lid, shake the shaker a couple of times to let the ice cool the rest. Strain into a chilled martini glass...garnish with the zest of a lime if desired.

Some people like to add .5 oz of triple sec, and that's an option too. Not my thing though, I like pure cosmos

i think its just vodka 2 jiggers, then 1 count vermouth, then splash of cranberry, thats it

My favorite way (though not the traditional recipe) is grey goose citron, splash grand marnier, splash of cranberry and juice of lemon & lime slice (or substitue with a splash of sour) garnished with a lemon and lime. You can also spice up this drink with raspberry or pineapple vodka!

The traditional way is Vodka, Triple-sec, squeeze of lime juice, splash of cran (just for color) garnished with a lime

Just remember everywhere you go will make them a bit differently as bartenders like to put their signature on drinks (especially the boring ones we have to make all the time)

I found this recipe on epicurious.com a few years ago and it's the recipe we make every time we have cosmopolitans - it's very good and none of the ingredients are hard to find. We usually make a pitcher of these rather than a drink at a time - it's much easier for a crowd:

cosmopolitan cocktail
Gourmet | July 1995

Makes 1 drink

1 1/4 ounces Absolut Citron vodka (about 2 1/2 tablespoons)
1/4 ounce Rose's lime juice (about 3/4 tablespoon)
1/4 ounce triple sec or Cointreau (about 3/4 tablespoon)
1/4 cup cranberry juice
1 cup ice cubes

Garnish: lime twist

In a cocktail shaker combine all ingredients. Shake well and strain into a Martini glass.

Garnish drink with lime.

Grey goose orange, couintreu, fresh lime juice.
The secret to good cosmos is a little extra couintreu. It sweetens
it up and takes the bite out of the vodka
