Try Tesco own brand it has been rated much better than some of the premium brands. But the link has some good wine at a good price.

Not palatable, but a spumante, yes, it can be done.

Aldi champagne is ok?
i prefer Asti Spumanti but then again im common as hell!

Around this time of year there's a lot of champagne on offer.

I know morrisons have a lot on offer, one which has been reduced from £26 to £ 11 !

no.it wouldnt be half decent at that price. sorry. you can buy sparkly wine at that price and pretend its champagne. most people wouldnt know the difference

Champagne is called after that region. Basically it is a fizzy wine. (all you do is shove together Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc grape varieties add excess yeast, chill, rotate corks in darkened cellar and bob's your uncle!) Other countries produce quality sparkling wines made with similar or same grape varieties at a fraction of the price.
OK 'Aste Spewmante' is cheap and nasty but check out some of the 'Cavas'. There was this guy a few years ago sensationally producing champagne quality wine from India(!) (originally Aussie) but at a fraction of the price! (go for small effervescence, straw colour and 'biscuity' flavour!)

"Fred's Chump pain" goes for about half ten--not decent but it does the job.

Sainsbury's have an offer on one of their champagnes at the moment. I can't remember the name of it but it should be easy to find. It's a really nice champagne and it's half price right now so it's only £11.
