Why is it SO hard to find restaurants that carry white merlot????!

Question: I guess the real answer is that wines go through phases of popularity so white merlot is not currently a wine that is "in vogue" so to speak.
Its a sad but US wineries in particular try to devote their production to the most popular styles for the simple reason of profit. Many wineries just grow root stocks and graft on the vines for the next season's popular grape. Once harvested, the plant is cut back for the next season.
French, Austrlian and New Zealand wineries don't this but their availability is not always reliable and importers of those wines would aim to import wines that people will drink anyway.

I find that white merlot is just like White zinfandel ....But I find white merlot at groceries strores all the time.
I think that White Merlot has not catch up with the trent yet. Restaurant avoid to carried to much inventory..so is either White Zinfandel or White Merlot.
I know that both taste different to a wine aficionado..for anyone else..is the same
Salud.

Well I think its just like White zinfandal. But it's not, you know very popular. Because yesterday when i was at a resteraunt, my husband asked for white merlot. And the waitor said ''come agian''. and he repeated it. and he said '' i dont think we carry that kind of wine and ive never heard of it.''

White merlot is like white zinfindel. Both are made from left over grapes. These are very cheap wines. But, there's nothing wrong with that.

Because it's not exactly a traditional wine. Try some trendy yuppie establishment instead.
