At a bar what's a "well" drink?!

Question:

At a bar what's a "well" drink?

I won a VIP party at a club this weekend with 1$ well drinks but I don't know what a well drink is.

Answers:
At a bar, have you every noticed the "wand" that the bartender uses to mix drinks? They will push a button, and out comes the liquid.

This is usually a "house brand" liquor, or lower quality. For $1 well drinks, you won't even notice!!

Have Fun!!

A drink made with the cheap liquor

It's usually vodka, whiskey, etc.... But it is the cheapest liquor that you can get in a bar.

Cheapest. So, if you get a vodka, it wont be absolute, Itll be an offbrand, or maybe if its a very upscale club, their well may be a little nicer. Drinking too many well drinks will give yu a hangover. Whats worse, vomiting with a bad headache or paying a few extra bucks?

house liquer and mixers i.e rum and coke, 7/7 ext...

Cheap vodka, rum, gin, and cheap whiskey . Can be mixed with soda or orange juice. No fancy drinks like margaritas, pina coladas, long island iced teas, etc.

It refers to standard bar liquor, usually the cheaper stuff, and not a top brand.

It is what they give you of you ask for a Rum & Coke vs asking for a Bacardi & Coke.

Well liquor aka bar whiskey. Kind of like the generic of something.

Make sense?

It's what's avalable .Not a call drink .

A "well drink" is one that is made with liquor...kind of like your basic rum and coke, vodka cherry sour, and screwdrivers. Oh and if you do decide to join in the festivities just make sure that you are carful. When drinks are at that price people tend to drink more than they should sometimes!

cheap crap

A well is any liquor that the bartender keeps in their well. Also know as the "house" drink. Pretty much it is just really cheap alcohol (and it tastes cheap too). But It's low end Vodka, Gin, Rum, Triple Sec, Tequila, Scotch, and Whiskey

You can feel free to order the mixed drink you wish, as long as you don't ask for a specific premium brand or ask for a drink that requires the use of such. Also usually not drinks that are too time consuming to make.
The "well" is the row of bottles the bartender reaches for (usually below the bar, out of sight of the patron, or in the gun) when a customer asks for a generic drink (i.e. a screwdriver, margarita, rum and coke, gin and tonic, cape cod, vodka tonic, long island iced tea, etc.) and does not "call," meaning ask for, a specific brand (i.e. Tanqueray tonic, 7 and 7, Crown and coke, ) or specify "top shelf," which comes from the shelves above and behind the bartender....a "top shelf" long island, margarita, etc would have "premium" brands.
The well usually has generic cheaper brands but many places now have premium wells so quality varies.
Just use the generic term to order and you will be fine.

At a standard bar it is the liquors they keep at easy access, and consists of the more common forms of liquor in a cheap form. As previously stated, they are used for drinks that are not specifically asked for, and are generally cheaper. The brands used for each bar are different. Both bars I worked at used Banker's Club. Not a very high-quality liquor, but I guess it does get the job done.

Enjoy your well drinks though. I recommend rum and cokes. Banker's Club rum is better than their vodka.

A well drink is made from what bartenders call "Rack liquors". These liquors are cheep and are brands that are not well known. For example if you go to a bar and ask the bartender for a vodka and soda, then you will get rack vodka. You need to specify the brand of liquor you want.

well drinks are basic drinks made with the cheapest alcohol ie rum and coke vodka cran or oj
