Why is red 40 and blue 1 banned in europe and not in america?!

Question: Both have been proven to negatively affect people. I know Red 40 can make ADD/ADHD worse than it already is. I'm not sure about blue 1.
Europe is much more health conscious than America is... at least the government is.

Um for the person that said Europe is much more health conscious than America they are on crack. Europe has nowhere near the same health standards/ regulations than that of the U.S. And your question is stupid anyway, who cares?

In the United States large, industries (like the food industy) often exercise enormous control over our legislators due to lobbying (i.e. due to money and re-election influencing). Also, the government agencies that exercise control over what may or may not be added to food are often staffed by people that used to work in the food industry, and vice versa.

These chemicals, and many others added to conventional foods, are most likely dangerous to various degrees over the long run. Your best bet is to read the ingredients labels and avoid buying foods that contain chemical colorings, chemical preservatives, hormones, anti-biotics, hydrogenated oils/fats, and corn syrup. This will eliminate 90% of the foods on a conventional grocery stores shelves...

I don't know about Red 40, but Blue 1 will definitely turn your poop bright green in high doses. It reacts with your bile during digestion and turns green. Not sure if that's why its banned, but it definitely turns your poop green. Koolaid and certain Grape Sodas have that, and if you drink enough of either, you'll get to experience it first hand. I had a grape soda that had both blue 1 and red 40 recently. Green poop.

If the person above said Red 40 makes ADD/ADHD worse, and Blue 1 makes poop green, maybe Europe banned it because they didn't want a bunch of hyperactive kids running around slinging bright green poop everywhere. I know I wouldn't.
