Does anyone have any ideas for a good Easter wine?!

Question:

Does anyone have any ideas for a good Easter wine?

Having a formal, sit down Easter dinner with our friends on Saturday night.

Thanks guys!

Answers:
the wine should go with your dinner not with Easter, rule of thumb white wines with white foods, dark wines with dark foods,fish=white,steak=red,des... sweet dry is not sweet but if you want a jeneral good wine that will go with most things then go with a lightly sweet white or red i like most of all sangria yum

that all really depends on what you are serving for food. i do love a nice pinot grigio....

White wine reminds me of the spring time.

The blood of Christ is always a crowd pleaser on religious holidays, and you can't beat the price: Just pour out water for your guests, pray together intently and--if you're sincere--you'll end-up with a nice wine. And frankly, I think the middle-eastern varietals are underrated.

1) Fetzer Valley Oaks German Riesling 2005 (Germany)

The Fetzer Valley Oaks German Riesling is an off-dry, low-alcohol Riesling sourced from the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer and the Rheinhessen, two of Germany's prominent grape growing regions. The flavor profile boasts abundant apple, pear and peach combinations with an enticing semi-sweet finish. Fetzer's Valley Oaks offers an authentic German Riesling, that is easy on the palate, easy on the wallet and is versatile enough to be featured with many a meal

2.Wynns Coonawarra Estate Riesling 2002(Australia)

If you are itching to see the new screw cap tops, then this may be your lucky pick! Wynns Coonawarra Estate has opted to forego cork and ensure a delightful taste in this vintage of Riesling for their consumers. After you are done peering at the screw cap, buckle up for a terrific wine - full of apple, lemon and lime with an amazing finish.

We've tried hundreds of white wines and we consistently go back to these 2 Washington state ones over and over again, and have given them to friends and family members. Depending on your location, you should be able to get them for under $10 a bottle.

Chateau St. Michelle Columbia Valley Riesling

Inviting, refreshing, off-dry Riesling vintage after vintage. This Riesling consistently delivers classic Washington state Riesling characters of juicy peach, ripe pear, melon, with subtle mineral notes. This is our everyday Riesling that is versatile and easy to drink

Chateau St. Michelle Gewurztraminer

"...a bright, refreshing medium-dry wine with inviting aromas of honeydew melon, pink grapefruit and delicate spice

If you need red wines, try these.

Esser Pinot Noir (California) - we had this for the first time on Saturday night and were BLOWN away.

The Mendocino component was a keynote of the blend, with its ripe, full, and jammy cherry/plum fruit. Other lots were added to provide soft, wide open texture to compliment the sleeker profile of the cooler climate Monterey fraction, with its fine Pinot character and touches of anise and mocha. The Santa Barbara lot produced a full-blooded, rich Pinot, with lots of violet and juicy cherry fruit as well as the particular "beet root" character which characterizes Pinot Noir

Also, one of our favorites is Frei Brothers Reserve Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. It should be about $12-15 a bottle and it's wonderful. This is what we usually open on our anniversary.

As a general rule, the best wine or wines for any occasion is always YOUR favorite wine. This way you will never be disappointed with the wine choice.
