The best age is whenever you are mature enough to handle alcohol, and over the age of 21. Part of being mature enough means following the rules of your country. If the law says 21, then wait AT LEAST until you are that old. I didn't start until I was 24. Even now, four years later, I'm still finding out that in some ways I shouldn't have started that young.
As for dying for your country, join the military. If you want to drink at 18, sign up and drink on base. Stop using that line as a BS reason for you to drink underage. You should say, "If you are mature enough to fight for your country, AND ARE DOING SO, then you should be able to drink."
Around 100 is a good time to start.
I'm sorry, but there is no "good age" to start drinking. Alcohol is a drug, and very addictive. There are no redeeming qualities to alcohol.
You should worry about your health and wait until you are legal. I started when I was 16 and regret it now. I would have waited.

i started at age 12 or 13, and i am 17 now. I would say mid to late 10th grade would be best, around age 15 or 16.
If you have to drink, then do so when you are 21. The law is the law. Just because others are doing it doesn't mean you have to ... same idea as, "if they step out in front of an oncoming car and get run over; are you going to do it too?" Just because they did it doesn't make it smart or right.
At least wait till it's legal for you to buy cigarettes. It's not a big deal to drink it just makes you act a damn fool. You're young, you can do that now without alcohol. I've seen several of my friends who started drinking in their teens turn into alcoholics and they're only 25 years old now. It's pathetic to see how much money and time they've wasted on this SH*T

truthfully, there IS no good drinking age
the reason the law says 21 is becuase science has proven that at 21 years olf the human body is pretty much completely done growing so alcohol wont have such a bad effect
however, parties begin much earlier... so its really up to you and when ever you think YOU are ready and able to be safe about it
