Depending on what you mean by sweet.

If you want a sugary, syrupy sweet red wine, go for Port. Port wines are fortified wines made from partially fermented red grape juice with addition of brandy, so these are sweet and alcoholic. I would suggest mid-priced Port, primarily non-VIntage Port - like LVB, Ruby Port, Tawny Port. As for brand, there are many - you can try Sandeman, Warre, Cockerburn, Grahm from Portugal, or you can look for V. Sattui, Heitz, and York Creek from Napa. All are $25-40.

If you want a red wine with mild sweetness, I would choose either Cabernet Franc or Zinfandel. These two wines have a natural slight sweetness, and they both complement meals well, unlike Port, which is used primarily for appertif and dessert. For Zinfandel, consider Ridge ($25-40), Rosenblum ($20-40), and Turley ($55-90). For Cabernet Franc, my favorite is Pride ($55).

Cheers!

pinot noir, you can get a good bottle for like $12-15

I love Shriaz ! and you can find brands from $2.99 and up ..
Enjoy .. It gives you a warm fuzzy feeling after a bottle or two LOL !~
