Answers: not the ones that you have to fly to scotland to buy a bottle!the regular ones at the liquor store!
You wrote whiskey with EY that means it has to be American whiskey or Irish.
Note that Canadian and Scotch write whisky on their label.
Once you know the difference between one and the other, you can choose. Again it all depends of the taste you like or don't like.
Usually the more expansive are the bests. Also look for ageing. The older the smoother.

Glenfiddich OR Macallan - they're from Scotland, and you can buy them in the US.
i prefer makers' mark, jack daniels, and seagrams. seagrams is definitely not a top shelf liquor like the other two, but i think the taste says otherwise...to me, anyway.
