Whats the Best Brand of Tequila? Vodka?!

Question: I went to the liquor store and I was gonna get Grey Goose and Jose Cuervo...the man told me that I was just buying the name brand...according to him (and in theore he should know his stuff...)) balinoff is ebtter because it is distilled seven times, and montezuma gold tastes better, as opposed to Jose Cuervo which tastes like gasoline...apparently...what do you guys think?

You are going to get a bunch of opinions on what is the best liquor. The best will be what you like.

If you can find and upscale Mexican restaurant in your area, they may serve flights of tequila. Then you can sample various types and find your favorite. Or maybe you can purchase a variety of those little 50mL bottle of booze so you're not breaking your wallet or wasting your time finishing a bottle of booze you don't like.

Tequila: I reccommend 100% agave tequila's like Don Julio Real or Milagro Select Barrel (Their packaging is quite eye catching along with their tasty liquid sunshine. Even their website is kinda cool: http://www.milagrotequila.com =) A?ejo Tequila's are best for sipping not for shooting or mixing into drinks. If you're gonna chug & mix tequila I recommend going for a blanco (aka silver) or maybe a resposado. He is right about Cuervo. But I always thought Montezuma was trash also. It's used as well liquor is dive bars & places like Fridays or Chili's.

Vodka: I LOVE Chopin. It's so smooth. I'd also go with Ciroc, Pravda, Hangar 1 or Vox.
Balinoff is a pretty good Vodka. I would drink it over Belvedere or Grey Goose. Did you know Smirnoff actually ranked higher in some taste tests above brands like Belvedere & Grey Goose?

i like patron and stoli

A good tequila is made from 100% blue agave. the length of time the tequila spends in the barrel determines the color and taste. Anejo tequila is the darkest (the most time in the barrel). I only drink anejo and the brand I choose is Don Julio.

I have completly agree w/ that other person, don julio for tequila all the way. and effen (black cherry is my preference, drink it w/ sprite or as a martini) for vodka. and cuervo does taste like gasoline. and smirnoff is evil so steer clear. absolut doesn't follow far behind that, its pretty gross.

Patron for taquila. Stoli is excellent for a sweeter, cordial vodka. Gray Goose for a more dry taste. Ketel One for a vodka that has no taste but is still smooth. Vodka is my water And im not from Russia as some jerk who answered the question a bit earlier than me assumed all vodka drinkers are. Im from the U S of A where we all have to deal with Pres. Bush somehow! Lol!

Patron and Belvedere

smirnoff and bacardi.....well bacardi is rum.... but....its good lol.

Best brand - there're premium tequila and vodka. It all depends on individual. Try STolichnaya, Absolute flavour range, Sauza Gold, Olmeca Tequila etc. . .

i got no idea with tequila so i wont bother but as for vodka

yeh steer away from realy cheap vodka like smirnoff, they are fairly pungent and rank compared to ketel one, belvedere, ciroc and all the other more expensive ones.
i prefer ciroc, belvedere, grey goose is okay
if ur just getting to know stuff bout vodka and tequila, u should start with the affordale ones, get a taste for vodka and then move on and be sure to try them straight if u really wanted to tell the difference, mixing vodka just loses its essence.

-belvedere,ciroc,balinoff,pravda,ketel one.

try them out in a club, then if u like it, then buy a bottle and drink it with mates
