Typical recipe calls for:

1 oz vodka
1/2 oz triple sec
1/2 oz Rose's lime juice
1/2 oz cranberry juice

You can vary the ratios if you like a stronger or sweeter drink. Some people make the drink with only a "splash" of cranberry for color (the drink is basically a Kamikaze plus cranberry).

The recipe calls for sweetened lime juice (Rose's is a popular brand used at most bars), as this is a traditionally sweet drink. Using fresh lime is a variation of this cocktail, but will change the taste considerably.

This drink is typically shaken but can be stirred. Shaking doesn't "bruse" the vodka, it just gives it a cloudy appearance and sometimes makes it icy. This is more of an issue in a traditional martini when no colored ingredients are used to cover up the cloudiness, and the flavor of the vodka is what is important.

Absolute Citrus Grand ma carnberry juice and a lime wheel floating..

Here ya go:

1 oz vodka
1/2 oz triple sec
1/2 oz Rose's? lime juice
1/2 oz cranberry juice

Shake vodka, triple sec, lime and cranberry juice vigorously in a shaker with ice. Strain into a martini glass, garnish with a lime wedge on the rim, and serve.

The original recipe is NOT meant to be a super sweet drink.
The recipe I execute is classic & as follows:

1?oz. Premium Vodka (the original recipe actually calls for Citrus flavored Vodka but you can substitute other flavors)
?oz. Cointreau (or Grand Marnier... triple sec can be used for less refined palates)
?oz. Fresh squeezed lime juice (bottled & Rose's is for amateurs)

Add a splash of Cranberry juice just for a light pink color, NOT FOR FLAVOR. I notice most people add wayyyy too much cranberry juice. Stir so as not to bruise or water down the vodka (despite what people say shaking does this,) serve up in a cocktail glass and garnish with a lemon twist.
