Why the heck are more and more people turning into drunks?!
You also have to consider not too terribly much has changed in the past 20 years or so in regards to how people get down but with the way technology has progressed it's far easier to get a glimpse in to the lives of others. It's not like 10 years ago under aged people weren't getting hammered at keg parties every day, they just didn't have cell phones with cameras, youtube, and a handful of other wonders to broadcast their debauchery with.
Answers: Because there's more and more people on the planet. I somehow seriously doubt we're more drunk as a society now then we have been historically.

It is easier when you have to deal with idiot people like you. People are not drunks just cause they enjoy drinking every once in a while.

Actually, alcohol abuse gets less and less common every year. Perhaps you are travelling in the wrong crowd.
because our government is cracking down on pot smugglers. LEGALIZE POT!!! and people will not have to drink!! you can smoke and drive, but not drink and drive WTF??
Historically, people drank regularly a heck of a lot more than they do now. Do your research.
Back in the days when water sources were not always safe, and people did not have sophisticated means of preserving things, alcohol acted as a preservative and virtually everyone (including kids) drank alcohol on a regular basis....beer, wine, and hard cider especially.
Even us Puritan Americans drank mostly alcoholic beverages...look it up!
Cos wine tastes a lot better than water, especially after a hard days work!
