Jean marc XO vodka is 9 times distilled, whats the point?!


Question: ive never had jm xo vodka so i can really say, but im just wondering why it is distilled so many times, and does it make it better by distilling it so much?

Like above you are making purer alcohol, but here is the point. When you make the initial "beer" that vodka comes from there are lots of chemicals besides alcohol that are formed. If you distill it once you may remove 90% of the contaminants (other organic compounds that change the taste and give major headaches the next day) If you distill it a second time you will remove 90% of the remaining 10% of impurities etc, etc. The rule in the booze world is that three distillings is probably suficient to remove the nasties.

Distilling separated the alcohol from the other liquids , mostly water . Some of the water does not get separated in a single distilling . The more it's distilled , the purer the alcohol .
