Why don't pubs and clubs use plastic cups and bottles?!

Question: well some do, but i think its cos most customers dont want plastic. I agree there are times when its good, for example if drinking outdoors, at festivals etc. but mostly people want glass, and after all they should be giving the customer what they want.

Also, plastic might not be recycled and you are essentially throwing money away not like with glass which can be reused. Maybe as well, perception of value is altered...people would think the product is worth less if in plastic, even though the drink in it is the same, you think the quality is worse

Some places do use plastic actually, and I've seen even more adopting the aluminum bottle.

I think in the case of smaller establishments it simply isn't cost effective to use disposable plastic though.

Would you really want to go out for a nice drink and have to drink out of plastic!

Some pubs have for years. 30 years ago the Student Union bar at Salford University used plastic pint glasses. Rumour has it there is an East Midlands town that is introducing plastic glasses throughout all pubs and clubs "for safety reasons".

Most clubs/bars in my town use plastic after 10:00 or so...when the crowd gets larger...avoiding broken glass!

Obviously you never had a pint from a plastic glass!

PEEEEW Orrible.

Because drinks tase like s*** when you serve them in plastic.
Some violent pubs and clubs use them or where you take drinks outside they somtimes use them.

because of hygiene reasons they melt in the glass washer

Obviously you've never had a pint in a glass before so are you saying you want to drink out of a plastic cup.How crazy are you?real crazy.

Recycle. Glass can be washed an reused ;)

Although I can see why using glass could be dangerous...

I wish they would! I live near a whole string of pubs and at the weekend all you hear is the smashing of glass up and down the street. Then in the mornings it's like taking an assault course, skipping over all the debris. As long as the plastic was biodegradable to a certain degree then I'm sure more people would agree to the change.

i personally find that drinks served out of glass bottles taste better. beer served from a can taste tinny, and served from styrofoam cups taste plasticcy. most times i will pour drinks into a glass fot better taste

Glass keeps the drink colder longer. Personaly, if I am going to pay an outrageous price for a mixed drink, it better be in a glass.

creates more trash, would always be buying more cups. plastic bottles of what?

taste better out of glass. believe me. like coke from a can or from a plastic bottle? metal can is better, glass is best!!

Some places do use plastic, personally I prefer glass. I think the plastic alters the taste of the beer.
