Question:

Why do i still think about alcohol when i stopped drinking it a year ago?

I always get butterflys in my stomach when im reading about it or seeing it on t.v and every time the weekend comes along i get butterflys and get excited because i use to always drink in the weekends and binge i sort of miss it but wont drink because it doesnt do me any good and although im old enough im not aloud to drink but i think im still addicted.

Answers:
Don't feel bad I still get anxiety and butterflys when I think about doing "Meth" and I haven't done it for 4 years. The first year or so it was bad, but it will subside with time, just be patient, you are just having urges, don't give up. When you do get the urge just think how sh!ty you felt when you were hung-over, and think about how good you feel now and the butterflys will go away.

Have you AA or another support group? Good luck dude!

It sounds like you are. An alcoholic doesn't have to be actively drinking to be an alcoholic. You may want to consider joining an AA group to help you keep from falling back off the wagon. Even young people can become alcoholics.

Although you don't want to drink it, you still miss it. That is why. Try changing to gassy drinks instead. Perhaps, it'll help you forget about alcohol. Well, it's definately better than alcohol.

Hi from France ?

It's because alcohol is always in your mind, be patient because it can be long otherwise see a good psychologist ...
Anyway, I think that you've courage, because I know well this problem and I know how much is hard to stop alcohol !!

Have a nice day,

Cat.

Oh, my....

consider yourself lucky of sorts.... I stopped drinking 3 yrs. ago when I married my husband.

I don't really miss it much, but I have come to realize that I have an addictive personality... now I can't stop thinking about another man!

Anyway, I have come to terms with self-torture.... maybe talk to people that have gone back and regret it a lot.... if you can see their guilt and sorrow maybe that will be enough to make you think twice or three times before you pick up the bottle.

sounds to me you are doing good... keep it up!

well dont stop completely then. drinking within limits once in a while is okay. don't binge also, have one or two beers once in a while.

I know how you feel. I stopped smoking but I still think about and want to smoke. I just went through some difficult situations at home and I just could not stop thinking about having a smoke as I dealt with the problems.

I had become a chain smoker and know that I was addicted to it and it will be something that I will have to deal with for the rest of my life........day by day. sometimes, hour by hour.

Best of luck.
