mixing it with mixers or other things?
I think J.R. Ewing had the right idea.
He drank bourbon(and some drinkers want to say Jack is a Tennessee bourbon, though that isn't quite true) and "branch".
Branch is some type of water. The
point is, top shelf bourbons and Tennesee
whiskies have a great taste. You might
try it straight, and people will tell you that
it burns and they prefer not to drink it that
way. Distilled water or spring water
are good mixers, and they do not
change the taste of the spirit.
I drink whiskey neat myself. I have
tried at least 25 brands of whiskey and
each one has it's own unique aroma
and taste, as well as several other qualities
that professional tasters test the drink
for. I am not a pro but I can taste the
difference and notice the difference
in the finish.
Finally, if you want a very good
short yet in-depth book about whiskeys,
look for Whiskey by Udo Pini.

You could make a double jack daniels
I would use Jack for sipping. I would use cheap whiskey for bar drinks. I have found no benefit in waisting good Jack with ice cubes or fruit juice.
