The £2-99 bottle of wine is to disappear from the shelves according to the news?!
kEEP THE PRICE DOWN, IT IS NOT AS IF IT IS AN ESSENTIAL ITEM. Let us dictate the price.
Answers: BUT, this can only happen if we let it. Forget the so called experts they have been ridiculed too many times. Don't believe the reasons, JUST DON'T BUY IT.

It's the only treat I let myself have. I get ASDA Sth African Red Wine at £2.79, and it's fine for last night tipple before slumber. Just one glass a night, not too much for a low income mum of 2 to have as a treat is it? I will watch this with interest...and concern.
~It is an essential food item for me!!
£2.99 is less than the duty. Supermarkets offer wine at that price as a loss leader to get you in the door. If you don't buy it, they're not bothered. They'll think of another trick to get you into the shop.
I take umbridge with the concept that wine is not an essential item, old boy.
The romans drank wine, and they conquered half the world. Im unsure whether theirs came under the 3 for 2 deal, though.
Edit- £2.99 isn't less than the duty! The duty is a percentage charged on all alcohol! If that was true about supermarket loss leaders, why does my local corner shop also sell wine for £2.99?
I only buy wine in France these days, £2.99 is a good bottle of wine in France, a £1 is good enough for me. Do not buy wine from Supermarkets, they are all rip off merchants.
I can't believe people pay as much as 2.99. (Hic).
I heard that too. Apparently it will now cost £3
I bought wine in my supermarket today for €1 that equals 74p per bottle. It was a 2003 Crianza, but I live in Spain where wine is cheap.
