I remember I used to buy a bottle of 'Thunderbird' from the off-licence years ago..?!

Question: ..but what was it, - a wine, fortified wine, dunno - do you?

Answers: ..but what was it, - a wine, fortified wine, dunno - do you?

I read some stuff on that a couple of years ago. Night Train and Thunderbird are cheap wines that are under a different label, but the actual manufacturer is Gallo. It could be another big producer, but I think Gallo is correct. So, that’s what they do with all the grapes that weren’t good enough for wines that carry the vineyard’s name.

it was a fortified wine i believe i remember buying it when i was about 14, lethal gut rot but got you smashed ;-)

it was fortified wine and it along with buckfast was bloody lethal. had some bad headaches off that stuff. happy times lol

Nasty wine preferred by less then discriminating tastes.

Fortified wine, wasn't it? Blue or red label. there was one called Night Train Express as well, proper wino tackle. I used to love it.

we used to mix it with lilt, like that made it taste any better!

red thunderbird or blue thunderbird ?????????????

Yep me and my mates used to drink it with a straw to get smashed on the cheap. I think it came in 3 colours..... Red, Blue and Black? Not sure. I remember one Saturday night we got hammered on T-Bird (as we called it) and pushed over our Physics teachers wall. What idiots we were. Ting !

i remember it well, we were talking about it at work today.

i have had a few hangovers off that stuff in my younger years.

It was a fortified wine blended with herbs and spices! I still remember the writing going round the bottle label! The difference between the blue and red was that one was pear flavoured and one was apple flavoured. No idea which was which, they both tasted bloody awful to me. Did the job on a Friday night before the youth club disco though :)
