What Type of German Beer is this ?!
I was wondering does anyone know what the name of this beer may be?
Answers: This is for Germans or German beer drinkers. I had a beer with a friend at a german tavern a couple years ago and it was sweet and a dark red color. it came in a small bottle that looked very much like a wine bottle with straw towards the bottom of the bottle wrapping around it.

Hello Johannes!
I think you had an the type "Altbier" from the area Niederrhein, this beer is red and sweeter than other kinds of beer. I don't know which kind you had, but you should try Diebels or Hannen.
Well, in Germany there are more than 5,000 kinds of beer, so it will be difficult to tell what kind you exactly had.
Greetings from Germany!
Prost!
That would be hard to pinpoint with the information provided. But here are some imported classics and a web for you to peruse for your enjoyment. And remember, always drink responsibly.
I don't know what you had but I'd guess you were in Bavaria or Wurtemburg.
Most German beer is lager type ( but better than ours!), but in the south they do dark stuff a bit like the "barley wine " here in my youth.
I last had it there about forty years ago. Nice to hear it's still around.
