Real Absinthe is made with herbs (and can be very dangerous is not mixed right) and tastes of licorice. It causes a "high" feeling and can induce hallucinations. It's a thick, cloudy light green color.
Modern Absinthe has been stripped of most of it's potency; it is now just a regular alcoholic beverage.

lol jkz no its a drink, there are 2 main kinds of absinthe, the normal one, and the one that makes you really f*cked up. most people refer to the latter though.
its an alchoholic beverage that is brewed in a particular kind of wooden vat, and as the drink is in the vat, the wood mixes with it and releases some kind of substance that causes you to hallucinate when you drink it. its illegal in most countries... if you've ever seen the movie moulin rouge, they have a scene where kylie minogue plays the little green fairy after they have been drinking absinthe.
