Can you die from mixing booze and energy drinks?!

Question: I was with a friend and we were drinking and we poured Rockstar into a cup and filled a shot glass with Captain Morgans and then dropped the shot into the cup and chugged it. Clearly I'm not dead, however, I was talking to my friend and he said two kids died from mixing energy drinks with booze. Is this possible? I'm thinking NO since I didn't but I guess in large quantities maybe it's possible?

You will not die solely from mixing alcohol with energy drinks. If you have an existing heart condition or something, that's a different story. But I would recommend drinking better things than alcohol & energy drinks anyway...

First of all, the caffeine and other additives in energy drinks inhibit the effects of the alcohol. Many people who drink them all night, especially the young, inexperienced drinkers who are usually the ones drinking them, will not realize how drunk they are getting. When they finally crash from the caffeine high, they become fatigued & uncomfortably drunk. Great way to feel dehydrated & hungover the next day.

I'd recommend trying some other drinks that do not involve chugging. There are a lot of other good quality spirits that actually taste good and will not give you a monster headache the next morning (if consumed in moderation).

you probably can, along with anything when you have booze. when drinking alcohol you can die so mixing it with something else would make it worse.
Just to tell you, DONT MIX it isnt good for you.

then again, a Red Bull and Vodka is really good ?
also, depends on what kinda physical conditions the kids were in and their age, also they could have choked

stay safe

now you cant die , people do it all the time . and all my friends do it , including me .

That is false. Snopes confirms it as a hoax.

On the snopes page, go near the bottom paragraph. There is the "teens died from red bull".

No. You cannot die from simply putting vodka in some redbull. If you mix pain pills with alcohol you can die. She is full of crap I think.

no not at all ever hear of Irish coffee its whiskey with coffee

no love you are ok. They actually sell hybrids in supermarkets all around the work of alcohol infused energy drinks..most of them have twice the amount of alcohol as beer and have all the same chemicals as the normal energy drinks. if the kids died it was probably an overdose..not a drug interaction. need to look more at the medical history and see what he was allergic to and what medicines he may have been taking at the time.. hope this helps

Well, In the wrong quantities anything can be deadly but here in Australia we have Pulse

Which is energy drink, soda and vodka and thats about 7% in a can that is 1.4 standard drink and has the same amount of energy as a can of red bull so hmm.

Maybe if you had a ton of energy drinks to get the heart really going then having a bunch of booze to slow it down it could really mess up the beat.

well, i heard that the old school redbull from thailand used to have something in it that was really potent if it was combined with hard alcohol, but i dont really know. I figure the most dangerous part would be falling down drunk with way too much energy, not passing out and embarrassing yourself even longer. sounds like a yager bomb to me.

If you have a heart condition it is possible for the condition to be aggravated or deadly. It's because of this that my friend can't drink Jager and and Red Bull anymore.

But for the rest of us, it's OK.

If you mix drinks, it will concentrate the effect of the alcohol, making your resistence low to having one too many. Too much alcohol can kill a person. Not necessarily just by alcohol poisioning. I lost a good friend because he passed out, then in his sleep inhaled vomit. He choked to death.

ofc u can die,but after some big quantities.now,u shouldnt mix it at all,but hey, wheres the fun there :P
