I'm addicted to red wine?!

Question: I'm 19 and not a day goes by without yet another glas of red wine...I drink 1 sometimes 2 glasses of red wine a day. As i'm writing this i am drinking my first glass of wine today...I'm afraid i will become an alkoholic or a 30 something year old mum in the future who has wine issues and hides from her husband and children. Don't get me wrong. I don't drink to get drunk, i enjoy drinking red wine and that's pretty much the only thing i can drink, if you don't count the smirnoff ice etc
Anyways can someone like, help? thanks

Girl....we are in the same situation!!! I LOVE Merlot!!! I had a glass with my lunch about 30 minutes ago! I have been drinking it for about 2 years, and it is progressively getting worse. My advice for you is to try to stop asap...I dont have any words of wisdom for helping you quit, because I cant!! Good Luck!

You seriously need to get to an AA meeting! Fast!

lol

hahaha

your not even old enough to have it! Drink like grape juice, fruit punch, or lemonade.

Stop wining.

join the club sister

If you are only drinking 2 glasses at the most I think you are probably fine, when it turns into like 1 or two bottles that is a problem.

edit- lol no listen to the kimmie T tard she's 15 so I'm sure she knows. It would be entertaining for you to show up at an AA meeting full of real alcoholics and see what they say when you tell them that you have a problem due to your glass or two a night.

ur not old of enough

second: one glass is okay, try to limit it to one glass a day, they say that is healthy, but don't become addicted on it, try a couple days without wine, just to see if u could do it, if u could then u no ur not addicted.

Then it's not an addiction, enjoying a specific thing on a daily basis is a far cry from an addiction.

That would be alcoholism. Grab Britney and head for rehab.

They tried to make me go to rehab
I said no, no, no.
Yes I been black, but when I come back
You wont know, know, know.

I've heard that a glass of wine a day is good for your health. Read articles! I've heard it on the news

Just try and take a day off here and there. It really isn't that bad though if you are only having one glass.

Sounds like alcoholism to me. I would get professional help before things progress. Especially if you plan on having kids in the future - the last thing they need is FAS because you can't stop drinking red wine.

lol, you sure have a drink problem. seek some help!

Get help and you can avoid alcholism

You are 19, you shouldn't be drinking anyways. Just because you drink a glass a day does not make you an alcoholic. Reports have shown 1 glass of red wine a day can help with your heart.

Red wine.... yuck..

Reisling is better IMO. As long as it's one or two... then nothing is wrong, except the fact you are underage.

But 19 is close enough to me. You are, after all, old enough to fight and die for your country.. I think you are old enough to have a glass or two of wine. I wont tell....

Two glasses a day won't hurt you, in fact red wine is often recommended for health reasons. Much more than two glasses and I'd start to worry, though.

I completely know the feeling. I spent all of high school NEVER taking a drink, thenin the summer before college I had wine and never went back.

At least you don't drink 1 to 2 bottles a day you know? They actually say that 1 to 2 glasses of wine is healthy for your heart and prevents heart disease. However, if you do find that you can't actually go a day without it, maybe that is a sign that you are more vulnerable to become addicted but not that you are now. Substitute diet coke for wine for a day. Try it if you want. That's what I do when all my friends drink and I don't feel like drinking--just get some diet coke :P.

You might just be addicted to the flavor of red wine, but I have a feeling your body is becoming addicted to the alcohol in the wine. Look its morning and youre already drinking it???

Try to stop, only have some at dinner or when you are partying with friends.

I think they have meetings for addicts. FIND ONE!!!

well, try drinking a glass or two every other day instead of every day, and limit yourself to how much you can drink! if it REALLY gets out of hand then try other methods like just plain quitting and don't buy any wine and chewing gum and stuf!

...
Try to go for a week without having any wine. Just to try it.

If you can't make it, then you are an alcoholic. All it takes is an addictive personality.

It doesn't matter how old you are. I knew that I would be an alcoholic when I was 17, which is why I limit myself to less than one glass every two months. You don't become an alcoholic, it doesn't just happen. It starts with an addictive personality and just gets worse if you don't stop it or control it right away.

Oh, and I am the daughter of an alcoholic, who is a daughter of an alcoholic. I think it is genetic.

sometimes I like to drink wine but i usually get the wine in the box and start out drinking from the glass and about halfway through the box i take the sack out and blow it up so it is pressurized then i just squirt it right into my mouth that is cool then after i have drank all of it i can inflate the bag and use it as a pillow as i pass out on the floor.

At this point in time the only negative effect I can see is that it is causing you to worry about becoming a horrible wife and mother. Actually, if you never changed and were drinking 1 or 2 glasses a day from all the good things I have read about it, you are probably adding a couple of years to your life. The benefits of your behavior (so far) are increased HDL levels, and youre getting lots of antioxidants. However, more than 1 or 2 glasses a day would have negative health effects. I would be careful that you dont increase your consumption or real problems may follow. But I am not concerned about you? Know why? Because you are concerned about the risks. I would worry more if you werent concerned enough to make a question of it. I know its a long answer but thats my style which is a natural result of knowing it all.

Red wine isn't bad! In fact, I recommend either Chardonnay, or Cabernet Sauvignon!

If you need to have it then your addicted you need to go to AA. Try just drinking some juice or something instead.

A glass of red wine a day is helpful, 2 is not bad but 3 is pushing your way to drunk. Some are drunk off 2 or 3 easily. I recently quit drinking because I am 25 and would drink a bottle of wine in a night or 9 or so beers easily. My mother is an alcoholic so I decided that I should quit while I am ahead. I have drank 4 times (1 drink each time) in the past month. I feel better now that I am sure I am not an alcoholic. Watch your tendencies though. If your wanting a glass turns to NEEDING a few glasses then QUIT! Be careful. Are you even of legal drinking age? It is 21 here in Florida. Not that it really matters. I commend you for worrying about the possibility of alcoholism.

1-2 glasses of red wine a day is good for you.

1 glass of wine a day is not unreasonable. If you can't wait to have that glass and then have it first thing in the am, and then want to continue to tipple all day...that could be a problem.

I - 2 glasses a day is not unreasonable. But if it is a habit, and you want it to be, then get some help or just stop it yourself. And it bothers me about the smirnoff ice...which is bordering on hard liquor. How much of that?

"You know I don't drink but 1-2 glasses of wine a day, but I forgot to say I drink 7-8 Smirnoff Ices."

Could that be your real problem? Is this an all day thing...like I said, 1-2 glasses per day is not bad...just be realistic about your real consumption. How much, do you have to have it. Can you do with out it?
