Has anyone ever had Westvleteren Beer? Rated best in the World!?!
Answers: I just received two bottles each of Westvleteren 8 and 12 direct from Belgium. With shipping it cost me over $100.
Yes I've had two and I still have two left. I will cut and paste my review from beer advocate... I really can't say it any better than I did there...
My first bottle was consumed fresh... it was only about a month old. It had a metallic after taste to it. Still wonderful but not great. My second was aged for 6 months and it made all the difference in the world.
Appearance: Rich brown with a white lace head. Stunning in the Westvleteren goblet.
Smell: Sweet malts... honey... raisen... sour dough bread.
Taste: Orgasmic. I can't even begin to give this brew a proper description of taste... But I will try. Sweet, bready and malty with an after taste of raisin or fruit and spices.
Mouthfeel: Smooooth as a babies ars. Perfect carbonation level. Perfect consistency.
Drinkability: Do you really need to ask? If only I lived somewhere near the monastery... I'd have my fridge filled with them... Sadly I am down to just two bottles.
This is perfection.
Serving type: bottle
EDIT:
I will admit you over paid a lot, but no matter what coffee says Westy is worth it. Not to brag but I got a 12-pack of the 12s for $168 after shipping. Split it 50/50 with my buddy. That bastard still has 4 left. I'd have for left it I hadn't given them out as Christmas presents.... Sorry. Make sure you pick up a goblet...

EDIT Part 2:
Well, I wish you had explained it like that before... You got an alright deal then. I'm glad you enjoyed the 8. The 12 blows it away. Bet you can't guess which review is mine....

Yes and rightfully so. Every day when someone asks what is your favorite beer, I always respond with Westy12. The 8 is out of this world as well. That is a little steep as far as price, but it will be well worth it if you are a true beer lover. I'll watch your additional info to see how you liked them! Congrats on getting those!
In response to that coffee guy, I've rated 131 Belgian beers and the only ones I've had that I liked as much were Westmalle Dubbel, Rochefort 10 and Verhaeghe Vichtenaar. To say there are a lot of Belgian beers better than a Westy is just not true to most beer lovers.
Rated "best" according to whom? I've had some good beers in Belgium (this one is from the Trappist monks at Saint Sixtus Abbey), and their brew is certainly no exception. I'm afraid that someone made a LOT of profit selling you those 4 bottles...hopefully they're the real deal. But hey, if paying that much for beer makes you happy, then enjoy!
