Answers: Looking to brew a beer similar to miller light / natural light. Would like it to be as cheap as possible

Papazian (You do own his New Complete Guide to Homebrewing, don't you?) wrote a book of clone recipes for the beers that won gold medals in some year or other. Miller Lite was one. I've brewed it and was happy with the results. Alas, I don't remember the title; I always refer to it as Papazian' "Gold". The larger book stores, such as Barnes and Noble or Borders, should have it or be able to find it for you. All I recall is that it a yellow-covered paperback and has the word "Gold" in the title.

You're not going to save money brewing beer. The cheapest homebrew will cost you more than just buying the Miller at the store. Also, it is all but impossible to brew the light flavorless American "beers" at home.

Bert

2lbs Dry Rice solids
3lbs Light DME
1oz hops of your choice
use lager yeast or some neutral ale yeast.

That should make 5 gallons of a light style american lager. Shouldn't cost all that much either. It will be even cheaper if you do all grain, then you can just substitute in pilsner grain for DME and use flaked rice instead of rice solids. You could also use corn sugar/flaked corn instead of rice.

Take a look at this free ebook with 490 award winning recipes, maybe you can find what you're looking for in it.
