Why Can't I Drink Alcohol Anymore?!

Question:

Why Can't I Drink Alcohol Anymore?

Since the summer of 2006, ive been going to parties and drinking. On New Years Eve, I went to a party and drank too much and I blacked out. I lost about 7 hours of my life. I vomited between about 1am till about 4:30 pm the next day. Ever since that night, I have been unable to drink a shot or even a couple of sips of beer because it makes me feel like I will vomit. Anyone have any ideas whats going on?

Answers:
You've gotten sick from alcohol and now you're body and mind remembers that bad experience.

It's sort of like the idea of working at a chocolate factory where they don't care how much chocolate you eat... you eventually get sick of eating them.

You may be allergic to alcohol

It's a taste aversion. You can get taste aversions because those foods or drinks remind you of a time when you got sick, etc. For you, it is alcohol. It is pretty common if you get really sick from it. Some people might have a taste aversion to spaghettios (like me) because I had it one night for dinner when I was really sick. And that was in 4th grade! It's a reminder of a terrible time. To read more about taste aversions, go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/taste_avers...

I had a similar..."experiance". I was at a party and I really can't tell you how many screw drivers and jello shots I had that night, but I spent the better part of the night hugging the toilet. Now I really can't stand the taste of vodka, it makes me want to throw up. It might just be your body trying to protect you from alcohol poisoning. Lots of people get nauseated by things their body as now aquired an aversion to, I know people who used to smoke that are now sickened by the smell of cigarettes.

Im not sure what is going on in your case, maybe, if it bothers you enough, you should talk to a doctor. It doesnt have to be your regular physician, just someone that knows more about the body and why this would happen.

I hope *something* I said helped....

I think that's a good thing , people try and spend a lot of money and times , just to stop drinking , and you are complaining from not drinking , that will be good and healthy for you . go on . stay away of alcohols .

I did kinda the same thing with vodka and sake bombs one night a long time ago. When you have a crappy experience like that (pretty much a taste aversion like what the person who posted earlier) it makes it so you just cant drink it. I can't drink the same brand of vodka anymore. Just thinking about that night or sake bombs makes me cringe.

wow. could u try something that is really smooth and doesn't have much of an alcohol taste? like a really good vodka? belvedere and grey goose are really smooth vodkas..taste just like water.

you may have an ulcer that the alcohol is stirring up; in any case, you should see your doctor to get a check up.....

you are having a flash back of the New Years thing, just think of the money you are saving and then it ain't so bad, instead choose a soda it is getting to be customarry now and accepted more and more.

This sounds like a "good" problem to have. Don't feel bad because you can't drink. It's healthier, you can be the designated driver and who knows how many lives you will save.

Enjoy non alchoholic drinks with your friends.
