If you bought a chilled ready meal then put it in the freezer, only to find it says do not freeze, would you?!

Question: still eat it?

Answers: still eat it?

It often says don't freeze because it may alter something like the sauce on it. Some sauces do not freeze well, they break up, become lumpy etc.

I have eaten meals that said "don't freeze"yet I did many times.

If I had assumed it had been frozen and it had been in there for some time it would probably have gone off, so no.

If it were still in date then sure, why not. Just cook properly.

As long as you thoroughly reheat it, yes.

You class beer wine and spirits as chilled ready meals?

I would still eat the thing, and indeed, have done it quite a few times... and I'm still here. That's about as close to living on the edge as I get...

Sure, freezing probably wouldn't effect it too much, unless it gets freezer burnt badly, which in case I'd pitch it. It's alot better than leaving perishables without refrigeration of any kind.

Yes I would eat it. Things don't go off when they are frozen.

It really does depend. There are some pathogens that prefer colder environments. However, considering as how you are reheating the meal anyways, most food-borne pathogens will be eliminated as result of heating in the microwave. The non-recommended effect of freezing is more cosmetic than anything, but if you were to get sick eating the meal as a frozen block, the company would be legally protected. Be at ease eating the product, though it may not taste the best.

No way scooby, chuck it out and go back to your scooby snacks (or curry mmm)
