Why is there no ingredients or nutritional information on beer?!

Question: Isn't it required on all food by law?

Answers: Isn't it required on all food by law?

it's actually the opposite reason that you'd think.

Beer doesn't have nutritional labels because "they" don't want you to know about anything that might suggest beer is actually good for you.

Check the packaging of the beer (like the case/or 6 pack) sometimes there are nutritional labels. Not all have them though, of course you can look them up on the internet. Beer is the only major consumable product not required by law to include nutritional information on its packaging.

Try looking at the box it comes in. Probably b/c most ppl figure it is not good for them but drink it anyway.

Beer isn't a food, it's alcohol. It generally comes with the standard gov't warning about alcohol consumption. And who really wants to know how many calories are in a beer? I certainly don't. I don't drink to watch my waist, I drink to waste my watch.

because everyone already know's beer is good for you!

Beer, it's use and distribution is governed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms. Not the USDA or FTC, and thus is not subject to the federal statutes that dictate RDA and other nutritional data. The information is readily available through the BATF or by simply contacting the producer or domestic distributor.

Ha Ha. What nutrition!?

You sometimes find it on low carb beer

When the food and drug labeling law came into effect (1906) the the Temperance movement was in full swing. This was the precursor to Prohibition in 1920. They successfully lobbied Congress to exclude liquor from the labeling process. Why you might be asking... Because alcohol isn't as bad for you as most people think. It contains many vitamins and minerals, is good for your heart, is a natural antibiotic and has been link to cancer prevention.

As a side note... Beer started labeling bottles at the beginning of the year. go to the market and pick up a fresh 6-pack and you'll see.
